Mental Skills of an Athlete as a Resource of Professional Longevity in Sport

The aim of the study was to assess associations between dimensions mental skills, psychological readiness and predictors career longevity among current athletes. Mental skills were measured with Ottawa Skills Assessment Tool (OMSAT). athletic Athletic Coping Scale-28 (the ACSI-28) producing scores for seven coping Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2) which produced confidence in competition. Overall, 253 athletes (average age 22 years) various competitive levels (classified 5 groups according national sport classification system) participated study. results showed that competition positively associated range dimensions. level related stress reactions, fear control, focusing, refocusing imagery skills. suggest some may came experience, while development other require interventions reduce likelihood early termination professional achieve longevity. also discussed terms a holistic perception sports psychology focuses not only on performance, but well-being sustainable
